This polymer clay scientist tabby cat is a continuation of my previous post where I showed the sculpting part. This post will cover the painting part. You can watch a 5 minute video of me painting this sculpture from being to end Here

Firsy I primed the sculpture with Liquitex acrylic gesso. I was also working on another Aspergillus sculpture that I forgot to prime and went straight to the painting. The paint ended up peeling during the sealing step, so its really important to not skip the priming step. The Liquitex acrylic gesso is applied with a brush and left to set for 24 hours or so. I started painting the pants first. I tend to paint in blues so surprise the clothes will be blue. I am using Vallejo Model color paints. I made the fur a blueish grey. I used very thin coats of paint. I used thinned black paint to outline the lab folds. I added thinned white and blue for some pants highlightsNext I started to work on the eyesI did not make the white of the eyes too bright and kept everything a greyish tone. This sculpture came together nicely and was a pleasure to paint!
